The Sabbath (seventh day) is the “Lord’s
day!” ERROR! “Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to
Mary Magdalene. . .” (Mk. 16:9) “Now concerning the collection. . .On the first day of the week let each
one of you lay something aside . . .” (see 1 Cor. 16:1, 2) “But we sailed away from Philippi . . . and in five
days joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days. Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together.
. .” (Acts 20:6, 7). In these seven days there was nothing for Luke to write about except the assembly of Saints on
the first day of the week.
Early Christians met once a year on the seventh day to eat the
Lord’s Supper! ERROR! “But we sailed away from Philippi . . . and in five days joined
them at Troas, where we stayed seven days. Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread,
Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight” (Acts 20:6, 7).
In these seven days there was nothing for Luke to write about except
the assembly of Christians which regularly happened on the first day of the week. If a Sabbatarian had written this passage,
he would have spoke of the seventh. Luke was evidently not a Sabbatarian!
The Sabbath was kept before Moses! ERROR! Moses
penned, “The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who
are alive” (Deut. 5:3). This covenant was the 10 Commandments containing the Sabbath (see Deut. 4:13; 5:12)
. Early Christians assembled to give of their means on any
day of the week! ERROR! “Now concerning the collection. . .On the first day of the week let each one
of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come” (1 Cor. 16:1, 2).
When does the church you are a member of pass the plate? Wednesday? Saturday? Everyday? Upon what scripture do they authorize
such practice?
Infants inherit sin and need to be baptized! ERROR! “The
soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son” (Ezek.
18:20).
People can be baptized by sprinkling rather than immersion! ERROR! “Therefore
we were buried with Him through baptism into death. . .” (Rom. 6:3; cf. Col. 2:12). Have you ever sprinkled some dirt
on a dead corpse and considered it a burial?
Christians should abstain from certain kinds of meat! ERROR! “.
. .some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits. . .forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from
foods which God created. . .for every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused” (1 Tim. 4:1-4).
There are some in the church who should be called “Father.”
ERROR! “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven” (Matt.
23:9).
Most prophesies in the book of Revelation are about to be fulfilled!
ERROR! John wrote 1900 years ago, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ. . . things which must shortly take place.
. .Blessed is he who reads and those who hear . . . this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the
time is near” (Rev. 2:3).
Three wise men came to see the infant Jesus in a manger. ERROR! There
is no passage that shows wise men coming to the manger. Neither does Scripture identify how many wise men were there.
But rather, we read of the wise men coming “ . . .into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and
fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and
myrrh” (Matt. 2:11; emp. mine.). They didn’t come into a stable but a “house” and they didn’t
see a “baby” but a “young child.”
Mary never had any other children after Jesus’ birth. ERROR! Mary
had sons and daughters after Jesus was born, “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary?
And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?” (Matt. 13:55, 56).
The apostle John distinguishes between Jesus’ disciples and His own fleshly family, “After this He went down to
Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days” (Jn. 2:12).
Preaching Jesus involves preaching water baptism for salvation.
TRUTH! “Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached
Jesus to him. Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, ‘See, here is water. What
hinders me from being baptized?’ ” (Acts 8:35, 36). How can one preach Jesus and not preach baptism? If
one can ignore “baptism,” in regards to salvation, why not ignore “belief” also? “He who
believes and is baptized shall be saved” (Mk. 16:16).

"If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from
God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory
of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him"
(John 7:17, 18)
